Bejawada movie review

Bejawada Movie Review

Movie : Bejawada
Rating: 2.25
Cast : Naga Chaitanya, Amala Paul, Anjana Sukhani, Brahmanandam, Nassar
Directed by : Vivek Krishna
Produced by : Ram Gopal Varma, Kiran Kumar Koneru
Banner : Shreya Productions
Music : Amar Mohile, Tutul
Release Date : 2011-12-01
This film was known as ‘Bejawada Rowdeelu’ at the start, but later it was cut short to Bejawada due to severe agitation from Vijayawada politicians and activists. With so many controversies and buzz surrounding it due to the issue it is focused on, Bejawada opened to curious crowds today. Did it live up to the hype and hoopla? Let’s find out in the review…
Story:
Bejawada is ruled by Khali (Prabhu), who runs a parallel government in the town. His younger brother Shankar (Abhimanyu Singh) is power thirsty and is jealous about Vijay Krisha (Mukul Dev), who is a close aide to Khali. Out of desperation to be the ruler, Shankar eliminates his brother and lock horns with Vijay Krishna.

Shankar successfully kills Vijay Krishna and the latter’s younger brother Shiva (Naga Chaitanya) avenges his brother’s death. How Shiva kills Shankar and wipes out his empire forms rest of the story.

Analysis:
Like it was publicized Bejawada is not a realistic look on the history nor does it bear any references to what ‘actually’ happened. Looks like the filmmakers tried to cash in on the ‘curious factor’ that is associated with Bejawada rowdy-ism. This is a routine revenge drama where two groups fight for the upper hand.

Obviously good wins over evil! So there needs to be a tight and arresting screenplay for such films to keep the audience interested. Unfortunately, Bejawada lacks the bite! It is a very dull film with poor screenplay. Everything goes as per the audience predictions. It also ends on a predictable note.

First half is mainly focused on the gang politics in which hero is left in the background. He comes to the front in the second hour, but a poor script lets the film down. One would expect a tense thriller out of this concept. But the director’s inability to highlight the emotions seems to be the biggest drawback of the film.

Second hour is sheer test of patience and it would be an almost impossible task to sit through it. It may appeal to people who look for excessive violence in a film.

Performances:
Naga Chaitanya didn’t suit the role. He is good in portraying romantic characters. He needs some time to take up such high voltage films. His costumes and looks are good. He should focus on his diction as soon as possible. It is the main drawback for him as an actor at present.

Amala Paul has good looks but her role is half baked. Abhimanyu Singh is menacing as the bad boy. Prabhu and Mukul Dev are alright. Ajay, Kota Srinivasa Rao and others did their bit. Brahmanandam is wasted.

Technicalities:
Music is composed by almost half a dozen people. The output is mediocre. None of the songs really made any impact and the background score is too loud. Cinematography is bad. The camera angles and the technique used will let us down. Editing is jerky and unconvincing. There are many jump cuts and irrelevant opening and closings of the scenes. Production values are of low standard. The film is made on a shoe string budget.

Director Vivek Krishna tried to ape Ram Gopal Varma in terms of storytelling and camera angles. His output is not up to the mark. He didn’t do justice to any of the emotions. Be it agony, romance or comedy. When the director doesn’t want to highlight any of the historical facts, then why did he opt for Vijayawada rowdy-ism backdrop is a million dollars question.

Final Word:
Bejawada may appeal to mass audience that look for some action and violence. People who expect a sensible or a sensational film from RGV’s camp will be terribly disappointed.

28 nails found in kid’s body

Doctors in eastern Indonesia have removed the last of 28 nails found embedded in a three-year-old girl’s legs and back in a horrific case some residents and officials blamed on witchcraft.

Doctors in Makassar on Sulawesi island had already removed more than two dozen 10-centimetre (four-inch) rusty nails, broken syringe needles and aluminium rods from the girl’s legs before removing a nail lodged dangerously close to the her spine on Tuesday.
“The girl is recovering from the operation and is generally in good condition. She is already playing again,” the girl’s surgeon Kamaruddin said on Wednesday.
X-rays in September revealed the foreign objects in the girl’s legs and back, prompting suspicions among local residents that they had been inserted magically.
The governor of South Sulawesi province, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, visited the victim and said he believed witchcraft was to blame.
“Believe it or not, in South Sulawesi it is possible for these sorts of things to happen,” Syahrul was quoted as saying by local news portal Okezone.com.
“We have often heard about people whose heads suddenly go soft, and medics have no idea what the cause is. It’s called magic and it’s explained in the Koran.”
Doctors said that scars on the girl’s legs showed the nails had been inserted by a person over a six-month period.
The girl’s parents told media that the scars were from the girl trying to remove the nails and that they had no knowledge of how the nails got there.
Indonesia is mainly Muslim but belief in black magic is widespread.
In 2009, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono accused his political opponents of putting black magic spells on him ahead of the presidential election.

India on Thursday clinched the three-match Test series against the West Indies after crushing the hapless visitors by an innings and 15 runs in the second match to take an unassailable 2-0 lead here on Thursday.
The West Indies put up a strong fightback in their second innings with Darren Bravo (136) slamming a superb century but that turned out to be not enough as Indian bowlers grabbed six wickets in the post-lunch session to wrap up the match on the fourth day at the Eden Gardens.
The match ended with more than four sessions to spare, just like in the first Test in New Delhi where India beat the visitors by five wickets.
The two sides now travel to Mumbai for the third Test which begins on November 22.
In contrast to their first innings collapse, West Indies, after being asked to follow on, put up a valiant fight before being bundled out for 463 in 126.3 overs eight minutes before the scheduled tea break.
At one stage, the West Indies were staring at their biggest ever loss against India (an innings and 112 runs, Mumbai 2002) but Bravo weaved two century partnerships -- with Chanderpaul (108 runs) and Marlon Samuels (132) -- to save his side from the dubious record.
Resuming at his overnight score of 38, Bravo put up a superb batting display to notch up his second Test century in less than a month with both coming in second innings. He hit 16 boundaries and four sixes in his innings from 230 balls.
For India, pacer Umesh Yadav was the most successful bowler with three wickets today to return with innings figure of four for 80, while the spin duo of Pragyan Ojha (2/104) and R Ashwin (2/137) claimed the remaining wickets. Pacer Ishant Sharma (2/95) had claimed two wickets on Wednesday.
Brief Scores:
India 1st innings: 631 for seven declared.
West Indies 1st innings: 153 all out in 47 overs
West Indies 2nd innings: 463 all out in 126.3 overs (Darren Bravo 136, Marlon Samules 84, Adrian Barath 62, Kirk Edwards 60,; Umesh Yadav 4/80).

College chairman kisses student, flees
Rising incidents of sexual abuse against girl students in the city has become a cause of great concern. In the latest incident, a 17-year-old girl was molested by the chairman of Sri Nagarjuna Degree College. The incident took place in the chairman, B. Sudhakar’s, chamber at Balkampet in SR Nagar. He allegedly kissed the victim in the pretext of checking her eyes like a “doctor”.
The SR Nagar police registered a case against the accused on Wednesday and launched a manhunt for Sudhakar who is on the run. The police said that the girl had missed her classes for the last 15 days as she had been unwell. She rejoined classes on Tuesday and at around 3.30 pm, Sudhakar called her to his chamber to enquire the reason for her absence. Inside, Sudhakar kissed and tried to hug the victim who immediately left the room and informed her parents. By the time the parents reached the college, the accused had fled.
“On the pretext of enquiring about my illness and checking my eyes, chairman Sudhakar kissed me. He tried to hug me forcefully. I raised an alarm and came out of the room. I informed my friends and parents,” the victim said. The police registered a complaint under Section 354 (assaulting or using force with the intent to outrage a woman’s modesty) of the Indian Penal Code. Sudhakar, however, is still untraceable. Sub-inspector of police, SR Nagar, R. Govinda Reddy said, “We received the complaint at about 5.30 pm on Tuesday and immediately started the investigation process.
The accused is absconding and we are trying to nab him.” The victim stays with her parents. Her father is a technician in an aircraft maintenance unit at Begumpet. Mohammmed Shoukat, a local, alleged that Sudhakar had a previous criminal record. In 2008, he was involved in a similar case wherein he had molested a girl from PK Guda. He had, however, settled the matter with the help of local goons. The college was closed on Wednesday following the incident and police personnel were deployed as officials feared that locals would attack it. The college management could not be contacted despite repeated efforts.

Story

sri ramarajyam Seeta becomes pregnant and she wants to deliver baby in Ayodhya itself. Just about when everything was happy in Ayodhya, Rama comes to know that the public are discussing about Seeta being kept hostage for an year in Lanka and gossiping about the possibilities over there. Deeply disturbed over these gossips, Rama sends Seeta away to forests. She goes to Valmiki Ashramam in forests and delivers twins - Kusha and Lava. The rest of the story is all about how Kusha, Lava and Seeta unite with Rama.
Artists Performance
sri ramarajyamBala Krishna Nandamuri: Bala Krishna deserves a huge applause for accepting this script. Bala Krishna is probably the one of very few actors in current Telugu film industry who can do justice to mythological roles. But the Rama role in this movie is about subtlety and emotions. It needs calmness and measured acting. Bala Krishna has done his role fabulously. Since is story is more about Seeta going to forests and the twins, there is ample footage for these three characters and Bala Krishna obliged it. Bala Krishna portrayed the inner turmoil Lord Rama went through very well. Bala Krishna has always been open for all kinds of scripts and roles. And this is the best film from Bala Krishna after Bhairava Dweepam in mythological/folklore genre.
sri ramarajyamOther actors: ANR is an asset to the film as Valmiki who helps Seeta and guides her in a critical time. Nayana Tara is perfect as Seeta. She portrayed it gracefully by bringing sanctity to it. She performed fabulously. Sunitha's dubbing helped the cause. The total movie is about the characters of Kusha and Lava. Both the kids who performed these two characters along with bala Hanuman. Srikanth has done the role of Lakshmana and this film will be a feather in his cap. He is superb. Sameer has portrayed Bharat and he is nice. Brahmanandam played a story-changing key role. Roja has done the role of Bhudevi (mother of Seeta). KR Vijaya, Balayya, Murali Mohan, Subbaraya Sharma, Sudha, Hema, Sana, Siva Parvathy Jhansi etc did very well in other important roles.
Technical departments
sri ramarajyamStory - screenplay - direction: The story of the film is based on the classic ‘Lavakusha’. Director Bapu who has done many social films with stories adapted from Ramayana made sure that he got everything right in this movie. Screenplay of the film is very good. The way kids meet their father without knowing that he is their father is a powerful screenplay technique. Bapu has extracted the right kind of performances all the actors. There is a nice humor in the characterizations of Lava, Kusha and bala hanuman. It is very difficult to direct a mythological film of 2 hours 45 minutes duration and Bapu has made sure that the emotions worked. You will sympathize with the characters of LavaKusha and with the ordeal Seeta and Rama going through.
sri ramarajyamOther departments: Music by Ilayaraja is excellent. I loved all the songs even before release. All these songs are exceptionally mounted on the screen. Background music is soothing and appropriate. Dialogues by Ramana are good and plain so that the present generation can understand it without any difficulty. Cinematography by Raju is another asset. Four units (EFX, Pixelloid, Makuta and Orange Media) have worked on the visual effects and they have done a fabulous work. Art direction is excellent. Ravinder has come up with a nice set for Valmiki Ashramam. Costumes and make-up are natural. Editing is fine. One person who should get 100% credit for this movie is Yalamanchali Sai Babu. It is a highly risky proposition to make a film like Sri Ramarajyam. Sai Babu has blindly trusted his team and spent a lot of money come up with a high quality product.
sri ramarajyamAnalysis: First half is good. Second half is emotional. The film really picks up in terms of emotions from the scene where Seeta is left in forest. Bala Krishna and producer Sai Babu should get the huge credit for the risk they have taken. In an era, where the success of a film is measured by punch dialogues, dances, fights and bramhanandam’s comedy, Sri Ramarajyam is a refreshing and a brave film that tells the story as a story. After watching this movie - two people will get enormous respect - Bala Krishna and producer Sai Babu. This film has got music, visuals, emotions and performances in the right proportions. Bapu comes up with an interesting and sensible film in the form of Sri Ramarajyam. Go and watch it!

It is known that expectations soar high when a film is coming in the combination of Dil Raju and Siddharth due to the historical image of Bommarillu. While it was the relation between father and son that was portrayed in Bommarillu by Bhaskar, now here in Oh My Friend, director Venu Shreeram tried to show the thin line between love and friendship. Let us see how he narrated.
Story
Chandu (Sidz) and Siri (Shruti) are friends from childhood and they are very close buddies. While Siri is a much planned girl with clarity of thought, Chandu is not interested in studies as he wants to become a rock star. This doesn’t go well with Chandu’s father (Bharani) but he takes it in his stride.
The story takes a turn when Chandu comes across Ritu (Hansika) and falls in love with her. In no time, he manages to win her heart. Meanwhile, Siri gets engaged to Uday (Navadeep).
The story takes a turn when the close bonding between Chandu-Siri begins to cause inconvenience to their respective partners. On the other hand, the elders feel both Chandu and Siri are actually in love but they don’t realize it. Is it really love? Or just close friendship? How the story of their lives takes a turn forms the essence.
Performances
Siddarth is used to doing such roles but in this film, he is expected to look young so he did his best for that. His performance was natural and scored brownie points in the climax emotional scene.
Shruti Haasan never got such a nice character in her career. A simple girl who is ready to do anything for her friend, she attracts with her performance. The actor in her is seen through this film.
Navadeep is seen with few shades of ‘Arya 2’ character. Even his acting was good.
The weakest link in the cast is Hansika. She has put oodles of weight and lost her cute charm, it may have been better if a new face was there in her place.
Tanikella Bharani was impressive, Ali’s comedy was okay, Raghu Babu came and went, Sana was standard. The others didn’t have much scope.
Highlights
  • Music and songs
  • Cinematography
  • Siddarth- Shruti performance
Drawbacks
  • One dimensional story
  • Lack of comedy
Analysis:
Dil Raju’s films are known for technical values so even this film is rich in that. Vibrant colours, mood photography etc make their mark. But the real life for the film is the music and songs.
The dialogues are penned by director and they have been good at places. While he handled all departments well, he could not do the same in script. But he was good at getting the right emotions at crucial moments effectively.
Due to the one dimension narrative, scope of entertainment was not focused. Even though Ali was there, that didn’t work much. As usual, the film addresses the problem faced by youth but at the end, the emotional feel is more than the entertainment feel.
Due to this, one can expect mixed reactions depending on each person’s personal experiences. If only the entertainment value was added, the film would have been a sure shot treat. May be Dil Raju has to rely on the post release publicity for that.
Bottomline: Emotions okay...but weak entertainment

Review

Story
Bujji (Gopichand) is brought up in a joint family and he works in a car showroom. Rajeswari (Tapsee) is the daughter of a female politician (Roja). Both of them fall in love and parents agree to marry them off. They seperate right after the marriage because of a serious issue that takes place between the elders of both families. The rest of the story is all about how Bujji sincerely tries to get his wife back.
Artists Performance
Gopichand has shed his mass image to do a character of a responsible and committed family member. He is pretty good in the climax emotional episode. Tapsee has got a performance-oriented character in the movie and she fits the bill. The big drawback is her own dubbing. Her dubbing sounded sweet and different in the beginning part of the film, and it gets on your nerves as there are heavy and emotional dialogues in the second half. There is a rare bare-back shot of Tapsee in this movie. Shraddha Das oozes oomph as a temptress. Krishna Vamsi reinvents Rajendra Prasad in the character of a father. Rajendra Prasad carries off the role very effectively. He will carve a big niche for himself as a character artist in the years to come. Roja played the role of a politician mother of heroine. Ahuti Prasad sparks in a brief role. Venu Madhav provides some humor.
Technical departments
Story – screenplay – direction: The story of the film is about marriage and families of bride/groom. Mogudu film tells that the compatibility of the families of bride/groom is as important as the compatibility between the couple. Krishna Vamsi who has done a lovable and ideal characterization for hero character has shown some bias against heroine character by inducing grey shades. The director who has shown the sweetness and affection of joint families in the first half has shown the ugly side of elders in the second half. The first half of the film has the feel-good factor we had in films like Ninne Pelladatha and Murari. It’s natural that the ugly side of a man/woman comes out only after the break-up and Krishna Vamsi tried to show the same in the second half of the movie. The technique used for reunion of couple in Mauritius is predictable and seen in several movies in the past. The reaction of elders (Rajendra Prasad and Roja) in the second half is highly temperamental/dramatic.
Other departments: The melodies scored by the new music director Babu Shankar are good. Cinematography is okay. Dialogues are spontaneous.
Analysis: First half of the film is entertaining. The crucial second half doesn’t live up to the promise shown by the first half. Krishna Vamsi’s strength is used well in the first half. Over dramatization and grey streak in heroine’s characterization don’t go well in the second half. On a whole, Mogudu film is targeted towards family crowd

Review
Story
dookudu Shankar Narayan (Prakash Raj) is a political leader and a man of masses. He wants his son Ajay (Mahesh Babu) to become a political leader. Shankar Narayan is hurt in an accident and goes into coma. Meanwhile Ajay grows up and goes onto become an aggressive cop. And suddenly Shankar Narayan comes out of coma. The rest of the story is all about how Ajay manages to keep the changes under wrap for his father, and takes revenge on the villains at the same time with some unconventional ploys.
Artists Performance
dookuduMahesh Babu: Mahesh Babu proved himself again that he is a director’s actor. He has a big heart to allow Brahmanandam to take center stage for a few minutes, though it is Mahesh who creates such situations. One should have a flair to time the comedy of Seenu Vytla and Mahesh does it effortlessly. Mahesh is one of the comedians when he is with Brahmanandam and MS Narayana. Mahesh Babu has also excelled in dialogue delivery by mixing Telangana accent in villain confrontation scenes. Mahesh Babu’s trade mark teasing romance works big time in Turkey episodes. You see Mahesh being cheerful and smiling in most of the parts of the film.
dookuduOthers: Samantha has a limited role in this movie and she does justice. Brahmanandam has a dialogue in the film – nannu vaadukondi saar. Seenu Vytla is one of very few directors who utilizes the talent of Brahmanandam to the maximum extent. All those Brahmanandam lovers will have another feast in this movie in which he acts an actor of a fictitious reality show. The way Brahmanandam keeps expressions for ‘bheebhatsamaina humanity’ dialogue and the scene in which he appeals to Nagarjuna Akkineni using his camera pen is priceless. MS Narayana who has excelled as fire star in Dubai Seenu does another similar role in which he wants to make his debut as hero opposite Genelia. Prakash Raj is seen in a positive role (inspired by PJR) and he is excellent. Vennela Kishore does the role of Sastry whose grandmother is a fortuneteller. Nassar has done a comic role for a difference..
Technical departments
DookuduStory – screenplay – direction: The basic concept of a person going into coma and that person’s son creating artificial atmosphere around is inspired by a German film titled ‘Goodbye Lenin! (2003) ’. That German film is a serious film and somewhat boring (for me). The story writer Gopi Mohan used that plot and moulded it to make an entertaining script. Seenu Vytla’s main strength has always been entertainment and he made sure that there are ample characters to create humor. He used Brahmanandam and MS Narayanara effectively to create ample humor. Characterization of Mahesh Babu is done well and the director has also shown Mahesh Babu in new light with better comedy timing. Though the entertainment and action orientation is good, there are ups and downs in the narrative graph due to runtime and number of characters. Screenplay of the film is good. The screenplay techniques used on Prakash Raj taking revenge without knowing about it and Brahmanandam’s crazy realty show will surely generate more commercial appreciation. Among all the characters, I feel that the character of Suman is not properly etched. It would have been more powerful if hero is introduced through the words of some other character, not through Suman’s. And the death of Suman is also not justifiable. The following aspects of Seenu Vytla’s trademark
1. Mahesh Babu: heroine teasing in Istanbul n Making Brahmanandam and MS Narayana Bakras.
2. Brahmanandam: SMS voting appeal and appeal to Nagarjuna Akkineni
3. MS Narayana: Showreel (Yamadonga, magadheera, Robo and Simha) and nalukapaina macha episode. Incidentally the same MS Narayana did a photoshoot comedy episode in Seenu Vytla’s Sontham in the past.
DookuduOther departments: Dialogues penned by Kona Venkat and Seenu Vytla are good. They are humor dialogues and masala heroism dialogues. Music by Thaman has already become a chartbuster and background music is nice. Cinematography by KV Guhan and Prasad Murella complements to story. Editing by Varma is adequate. The producers trio (Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta and Anil Sunkara) have spent a lot of money and the entire film is shot in extravagant style.
DookuduAnalysis: First half of the movie sets the plot up and it is entertaining. There are ups and downs in the second half, but the entertainment provided by Mahesh Babu, Brahmanandam and MS Narayana takes care of it. The plus points are Mahesh Babu’s charm, Seenu Vytla’s comedy timing and a workable script. On the flip side, there is a bit of redundancy in villain characterizations. Mahesh Babu delivers an universally acceptable entertainer in the form of Dookudu after a gap of five years. Go and watch it.
Trade talk: It’s been ages since a Telugu big star’s film got positive talk on the day one. It is a good omen for Telugu film industry that is literally feeding on Tamil dubbed films in this year so far. With Mahesh Babu’s star power, there is no limit for a movie can achieve with a positive talk. Wait and watch as the records smash in the days come.

Review
Story
pilla zamindar PJ (Nani) is the grandson of a wealthy zamindar. PJ is an irresponsible youngster who is spoilt by the pampering and excessive money. His grandfather writes a will with several conditions before he dies. He writes the will that PJ will inherit his entire wealth only if he completes his graduation as a common man without any luxeries. The rest of the story is all about how PJ learns about values and life as he achieves his goal.
Artists Performance
Pilla ZamindarNani: Nani has the knack of bringing likability to the characters he play. The character of a spoilt kid turning into a responsible youngster is not a new character. But Nani makes sure that he is lovable and admirable with his portrayal. There is a dialogue that refers to his character in the movie when he wears servant’s costumes. That dialogues summarizes it all – he is capable of playing both mass and class characters. Scripts like these need a performing hero to get them work and Nani makes sure that he injects life into the script with his work.

pilla zamindarOthers: Hari Priya is neat as a girl who is cheated. Bindu Madhavi gets another haughty character. Meghana Naidu does an item song. Rao Ramesh played the dignified character to the tee. Srini Avasarala gets a nice character and does complete justice. All he needs is a good break in a big-cast blockbuster, he will go places. It’s is nice to see MS Narayana being given a performance oriented role and he is an excellent actor. Raghu Karumanchi came out of his typical Telangana dialect zone and did a nice character (Vamsi trademark). Friends gang (especially Dhanraj and Thagubothu Ramesh) made their presence felt. Ranadhir is good as an innocent bad guy (character similar to that of Ravi Babu’s in Murari film). Dr. Siva Prasad played the role of a lawyer with his typical Nellore dialect.

Pilla ZamindarStory – screenplay – direction: The basic story line is taken from a Korean film titled ‘A Millionnaire’s First Love’ (2006). The director has added a bit of nativity. Director Ashok has handled the entertainment scenes well. The sentiment scenes are too dramatized. Screenplay of the movie is alright.
pilla zamindarOther departments: Music by Selva Ganesh is average. Background score is good in parts. I liked the way ‘ayyayyo dabulu poyene’ tune injected at the right moments to make certain scenes more entertaining. Dialogues by Chandra Sekhar are good. Cinematography by Sai Sreeram is alright.
Pilla ZamindarAnalysis: First half of the film has sufficient entertainment. Second half has less of entertainment and more of sentiment. Plus points are Nani’s performance and entertainment aspect. On the flip side there is too much dramatization in the second half though it was inserted to highlight the human values. On a whole, Pilla Zamindar is not a bad film.

Story
7th sense (Disclaimer: considerable portion of story is revealed in this paragraph) Bodhadharma is a real character who was basically a king of Pallava dynasty from Tamil Nadu in 6th Century. He was a expert in martial arts, medicine and hypnotism. He goes to China, saves their people from a deadly virus and teaches the the art of kung-fu. Eventually he dies in China on the behest of his followers. Arvind who presently works in Bombay Circus belongs the dynasty of Pallavas. Arvind is smitten by Subha Srinivas who is a bio-technology scientist. She submits a thesis which proves that the attributes and powers of our ancestors can be brought back to the current generation if the DNA matches. She aims to get back the powers of Bodhidharma through Arvind as he is having 83% match of the DNA. Meanwhile, a man is sent from China with evil intentions. The rest of the story is all about how Arvind rises to the occasion and destroys the evil powers.
Artists Performance
7th senseSurya has done two characters. One is as Bodhidharma and the other one as a worker in circus. Surya is fabulous as Bodhidharma. However the character of circus boy who turns into a savior is not properly etched. Shruti Hassan looks decent and acts well. Her character is essential and critical in this film. Johnny Tri Nguyen – a Vietnamese American actor has donned the role of villain and he is deadly.
Technical departments
7th senseStory – screenplay – direction: Story of the film is excellent. The director Murugadoss has come up with a novel idea by blending a real/historic incident to a fictional set-up. However, the screenplay is not taut and the required emotion which is vital for semi-science-fiction films like these is missing. Direction is good in parts. The way he has explained the story of Bodhidharma (first 20 minutes), the function of DNA and how virus spreads is excellent. Murugadoss who has done Ghajini by mixing class/mass commercial elements in right proportion didn’t get them right in this movie. The character of circus artist Surya becomes passive as heroine dictate terms in most of the movie. Murugadoss came up with nice concept, but lost it in translating onto the screen.
7th senseOther departments: Music by Harris Jayaraj is good. Yellelama and Oh Ringa Ringa are catchy. Cinematography by Ravi K Chandran is excellent. Dialogues by Sri Rama Krishna are okay. However the dubbing voices used for small artists are artificial/over-dramatic and remind us of popular Hollywood Telugu dubbing voices. Peter Hein choreographed stunts and they are partly good. Editing should have been better and production values are good.
7th senseAnalysis: First half is okay. Second half lacks the commercial grip. 7th Sense is an example for a big-star-cast-huge-budgeted movie that looks wonderful on the paper, but falters in the execution. The concept is innovative, but format/screenplay/arch is not good enough to narrate this story in an arresting fashion. We have to wait and see how this Diwali release fares at box office.

Businessman collections dropped

There is a huge decline in the collections (First Day – 9.03 crores, Second Day – 3.97 crores) of Mahesh Babu’s Businessman. Though the makers of the film claimed that all the tickets for the first four days have been sold out even before the release with the advance booking facility, that didn’t reflect in the collections and eventually raising many doubts.
One reason for the huge decline is because of another big release ‘Bodyguard’, which stars Venkatesh and Trisha, in the Sankranthi race. Few section of audience (Family) have decided to stay away from ‘Businessman’ due to the Adult content, despite the film having a Universal Star like Mahesh Babu in the lead. Instead, they are preferring ‘Bodyguard’, which is touted to be a clean family entertainer.
As of now, the chances of Businessman crossing Dookudu collections look bleak.

Chiru Fans get irritated with Ram Charan

Young Hero Ram Charan, who was projected as the successor to Chiranjeevi in Film Industry, is irritating the hardcore fans of the Mega family with his moves.
Though Charan has fulfilled the thirst of his fans to some extent with the magnum opus ‘Magadheera’, his third film ‘Orange’ has bitten the dust. Sadly, even after nearly 14 months of Orange release (November 26, 2010), there is no official confirmation about the release date of his upcoming film ‘Racha’. And the most annoying thing is the stuff Charan has been posting on his twitter page.
Ram Charan’s Tweets – “I’m addicted to angry birds game on my ipad. I can’t just give up…I’m becoming angrier as I play this game”, “A beautiful quote by Chanakya “Don’t be too honest in this World, Because Straight Trees are always Chosen 1st for Cutting…!!”.
“What’s the use of posting such things on Twitter? At least, he should try to post some film related news or pics to make us happy,” a mega fan said.
Apparently, Mega Fans were irked with the back-to-back hits delivered by Mahesh Babu. “When Chiru was in films, the fans of other heroes used to look up to us. But now, the situation has changed. Our fans were showing interest to join other heroes fan clubs,” opined another hardcore fan of Chiru.
The responsibility lies heavily on Ram Charan to protect the interest of the fans, who were a hard-earned wealth of his father. Hope Charan understands the pain of his fans

Comedian targets Chiranjeevi!

Comedian turned hero Sunil is trying hard to settle down as big commercial hero. He is only entertaining stories that gives him scope to showcase all his skills. Sunil is asking for subjects that made Chiranjeevi the Megastar of Telugu cinema, said a source from film industry.

Recently a couple of directors met Sunil with an out and out comedy subjects and to their amusement, Sunil suggested them to meet another hero who is known for doing comedy films. He told them to meet him if they have commercial subjects like Gharana Mogudu and Rowdy Alludu!

Sunil is a diehard fan of Chiranjeevi and he was his inspiration to take up acting profession. Chiranjeevi also started his career with small roles and later did villain characters before turning into a hero and then a top star. Sunil chose comedian roles to lay roads to become hero and he is on a mission to shed that comedic image with six pack abs and action packed entertainers. Way to go Sunil!
