Srilakshmi gets conditional bail

Senior IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi was released from Chanchalaguda Central Prison on Friday evening after she was granted conditional bail by a CBI court.
Ms Srilakshmi was arrested by the CBI almost a week ago for her alleged role in the Obulapuram mining scam.
As a condition of her bail she had to execute two sureties, each of Rs 25,000. While granting bail, the court directed that she should be available to the CBI whenever required for the purpose of investigation
CBI judge B. Naga Maruthi Sharma also directed that she should not directly or indirectly make any inducement, threat or promise to any person acquainted with the facts of the case so as to dissuade him to disclose such facts to the investigation agency, and she must surrender her passport.
The court which heard arguments from both sides on Thursday, felt that bail could be granted as all the allegations made against the petitioner were based on documents and because she is a woman and is not keeping good health.

Srilakshmi surrenders CBI Court, sent to jail

Senior IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi surrendered before the CBI court on Friday evening, accompanied by her lawyer and two family friends. On January 2, the High Court cancelled her bail directing her to surrender before the trial court by January 6. She appealed to the Supreme Court, which refused to stay the order on Friday.
Ms Srilakshmi is an accused in the Obalap-uram Mining Company case. She was arrested on a charge of abusing her official position to grant favours to former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy-owned OMC, on Nove-mber 28. Initially composed, she seemed to be on the verge of breaking down when the judge remanded her to custody till January 12.
Srilakshmi is prisoner no. 4637 in jail
Senior IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi was taken to Chanchalguda Women’s Prison at around 4.20 pm. She was allotted Under Trial prisoner (UT) No. 4637 and put in barrack 9 with 10 other women prisoners.
Ms Srilakshmi had sought the status of a special class prisoner. In her petition, she told the court that she was a senior public servant and had put in over two decades of unblemished service.
