The Most Promising Newcomer of 2011 - Male

The Most Promising Newcomer of 2011 - Male

A debutant has it tough. If your film is a success, you have it made. Offers come from quarters you least expect and in overwhelming numbers. If it doesn't, well it doesn't and people couldn't care less that you existed. But if you have made your mark in either case, well, you're the kind that Bollywood legends are made of. Or will be made of, someday...

The names on the list in this category include youngsters that have that special spark. You know the one that ignites desire, imagination and everything in between. Rana Daggubati, Vidyut Jamwal, Sendhil RamamurthyShiv Pandit and Sunny Gill may well be the eye candy, but the likes of Kunal Roy Kapur and Divyendu Sharma brought a certain believability to the characters they inhabited.

Getting on the marquee is the easy part when you have promise, when you have talent. Staying there is what marks you as different from the lot. There's nothing more encouraging for cinema than a newcomer who shows that he has what it takes.

Some may have debuted earlier in smaller roles but 2011 was the year when they got their big break. In rare instances, some stole the thunder from stars. It was a year for dreamers, doers and chance takers. The results are in. Rana Daggubati was your pick.

It's not for nothing that itimes.com/polls got 2.01 lakh votes!

Rana, Ram Charan and who else?

Rana, Ram Charan and who else?

A new trend is being observed among the young heroes of Tollywood. Though they are yet to find their feet properly in the Telugu circuit, they have already started making plans of expanding their presence and in the case of few lads, they are already targeting the big Bollywood base.

Well, the towering hunk Daggubati Rana has already started his foray and soon he would be arriving with his second Hindi movie 'Department'. On the other hand, mega powerstar Ram Charan Tej has begun preparing for his debut through the remake of the cult hit movie 'Zanjeer' to be directed by Apoorva Lakhia.

Now, the Tollywood seniors are keeping their fingers crossed to see who else will join the bandwagon. In between, there was a talk about Yuva Samrat Naga Chaitanya planning his debut and even prince Mahesh Babu's name made few strong rounds. The point is, how going to Bollywood will justify their ability as a crowd pulling hero. Perhaps they should take a lesson or two from the likes of Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna etc.
