Why this 'kollaveri' indeed!

With tweets from the Big B, Shahid Kapoor and Facebook posts from Dhanush’s alleged archrival, Simbu, the Kollaveri song has definitely captured the imagination of celebrities across the board. Salman Rushdie has even compared it to the epic Macarena tune.
The promo video of Kollaveri has Shruti Haasan intently listening to Dhanush’s rhythmic rendition of the now viral song. “I was amazed at his ease and the way in which he sang. He did an awesome job. The best part was no one in the team tried too hard to promote it or even thought that it would become such a huge hit.”
She continues, “The song I’ve sung is very different and I was confident, but I was simply blown away by Anirudh and Dhanush’s talent.”
In an industry where Ilayaraja or R.D. Burman are still the poster boys for good music and trained ‘soulful’ voices are still sought after, is this a shock to the system?
“The definition of success and good music changes all the time. I have grown up listening to Illayaraja’s music and I love it. Similarly, when something new like this comes along, there is a bandwidth that it caters to as well.”
After a brief reflection, she smiles saying, “You cannot compare people, leave alone people from two different generations.”
On the USP of the song, Shruti says, “There’s a great connect across the spectrum. There are English lyrics, which you don’t normally have in a Kollywood song. It also popularises a colloquial language that hasn’t had such a wide reach before.”
On the role of Twitter and Youtube in the song’s popularity, she says, “It’s the youth who are driving the music industry now. The best part - this song unites the old timers and the youth because of its unique fresh appeal.”
On Aishwarya Dhanush and the 3 film’s team, she says, “Anyone would kill for such publicity before the film’s release but the beauty lies in the fact that Aishwarya didn’t try to milk it. She’s an awesome person to work with. It’s not easy to get the song right despite all the help; but she knew exactly how to make it work and Dhanush helped.”

Raja promises 'tell-all book' after release

Former communications minister A. Raja on Friday said that once he is acquitted he would come out with a book that would lead to someone’s prosecution.
Mr Raja, who hasn’t moved for bail after being arrested for alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum allocation scam, said he was aiming at acquittal, not just temporary freedom.
“I will move for bail after my leader (pointing towards Kani-mozhi) gets it. I am aiming at acquittal. I am reading, re-reading the chargesheets and statements of the prosecution witnesses,” he said during an informal chat with reporters.
Asked whether he is writing a book in Tihar jail, he nodded and said, “You will have lots of surprises when I am acquitted. My book will lead to someone’s prosecution.”
Mr Raja said he has been reading a lot in prison. “I have almost completed 40-50 books in jail. In fact there is a cell for me where I read all the chargesheets, bound well and kept systematically,” he said.
He is currently reading Sources of Indian Tradition and has just finished Rajiv Malhotra’s Breaking India.
He said being in jail has given him a lot of time to think and that he has been doing a lot of soul-searching..

Is Shruti Haasan not good enough?

The proverbial bee seems to have gotten under someone’s bonnet because Shruti Haasan has suddenly been handed the walking ticket and Goan beauty, Ileana, is all ready to grab hold of a plum offer and act opposite Pawan Kalyan in Gabbar Singh, the remake of Dabangg.

This comes despite the fact that Shruti was signed by producer Ganesh, who scheduled a 10-day shoot in Tamil Nadu.

However, due to Pawan’s backache; the schedule had to be put off. In the interim, the production house had second thoughts about casting Shruti.

“Ours is a Rs 40 crore project so we preferred to approach a bigger league actress to stitch up a crazy combination and give a fillip to our remake,” says a source.

Apparently, Ileana was approached while she was in Hyderabad shooting for her film with Bunny.

“Yes, we have been approached and we are trying to accommodate the project since it’s a big budget film but nothing is confirmed yet,” says a source close to the actress.

Murugdoss’ next with Mahesh Babu,Ram Charan Tej ?

Murugdoss’ next with Mahesh Babu,Ram Charan Tej ?
The director’s next venture might have the Ram Charan and Mahesh Babu duo.
The director of 7th Sense, who created a record by way of boxoffice collections and even narration, found himself in the eye of a storm when Ram Charan appreciated his work and remarked that Tollywood lacks directors like him.
Balakrishna took umbrage to the remarks but the matter was hushed up after Chiranjeevi played it safe and expressed his respect for the seniority and wisdom of Balakrishna.
Dubbed films became a thorn in the flesh for Tollywood directors and producers and the successive hits of dubbed films like Kanchana, 7th Sense and others adversely hit the morale of film makers. Doss said that both, Tamil and Telugu films are the same for him.
He plans to remake 7th Sense in Hindi in the near future, but refused to reveal the cast and crew details

This love story has no name

Shahid and Priyanka in <i>Kaminey</i>.

Shahid and Priyanka in Kaminey.
Witholding the title of a film is the latest trick for Bollywood film-makers.
Aamir Khan kept everyone thinking his upcoming film is titled Dhuan before clarifying it was Talaash.
Jab We Met and Omkara, in fact, were chosen by fans through a public poll. And the title of the upcoming Shahid Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra starrer is also shrouded in mystery, with multiple names being debated.
“Even though the film went on floors many months ago, they are yet to decide on a title. Some of the names under consideration are Janam Janam Ka Saath Hamara Tumhara, Teri Meri Kahani and Muqtasar,” says a source.
What’s even more strange is that the names are all different in meaning and context, making the audience wonder what the plotline of the film could really be about.
“Looks like this is a new promotional tactic, but it’s one that has worked well in the past. Yash Raj started it when they would reveal the title of their films very late, and it has helped create curiosity and a buzz,” says an expert.
Director Kunal Kohli refused to divulge any information on the topic, but did confirm that the film is without a title yet.

Panjaa Movie Review

Panjaa Movie Review

Movie : Panjaa
Rating: 3/5
Cast : Pawan Kalyan,Sarah Jane Dias ,Anjali Lavania ,Jackie Shroff ,Atul Kulkarni ,Brahmanandam,Ali
Directed by : Vishnu Vardhan
Produced by : Neelima Tirumalasetti,Nagesh Muntha,Shobu Yarlagad
Banner : Sanghamitra Arts and Arka Mediaworks Pvt Ltd
Music : Yuvan Shankar Raja
Release Date : 2011-12-09
Story Line :-
Bhagawan (Jackie Shroff) is a dreaded don who is protected by Jaidev (Pawan Kalyan), a follower and in fact power of Bhagawan. There is a rival gang for Bhagawan Kulakarni (Atul Kulakarni). Jaidev has a fiend Jhanvi (Anjali Lavania) a club dancer and Bhagwan’s psycho son Munna (Adivi Sesh) shows his insane attitude on her. Jai also runs a nursery garden and his life takes a turn when Sandhya (Sarah Jane Dias) enters his life. He falls in love with her. Meanwhile Munna kills Jahnvi as she rejects him and in turn Jai kills him and becomes the target of Bhagawan. The rest of the story is to be watched on the big-screens.
Conclusion :-
Pawan Kalyan carried of the whole film on his capable shoulders. His screen presence works like wonders. Pawan Kalyan looked handsome in his distinct rugged look which is apt for the role. He gave his 100% for the role entertaining the audiences with his action, dance, comedy and romance.
Sarah Jane Dias, the former Miss India lacks good looks but she carried of the role in an impressive way.  The modern look suited her best than the traditional half saree look.
Anjali Lavania looked hot and she delivered her best with scintillating moves in the item number Veyyi ra.. However, she has a very limited role.
Adivi Sesh is a revelation. He is mind blowing in his negative role, Brahmanandam is good, Ali is wasted, Jackie Shroff and Atul Kulkarni were fine, Jhansi, Subbaraju Thanikella Bharani did their bit as required.
The technical aspects of Panjaa are lavish and good. Cinematography by PS Vinod is scintillating and keeps you interested; Abburi Ravi’s dialogues are not up to the mark except a few punch liners, Editing could have been better in the second half, Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music is mesmerizing with Ela Ela standing out while the Background score is elevating. Vishnuvardhan’s direction is good especially the action scenes are dealt well but then it’s the shoddy written script that is a let down. The production values are lavish.
Panjaa has a known yet interesting storyline and the presentation was stylish with each frame looking lavish but the narration was weak. A story of such scripts needs to be racy keeping you edge of the seats but this is where Panjaa falters. Panjaa is good on its technical front but the content was strictly mediocre. Vishnuvardhan could have concentrated on the content rather than much on the stylish taking. Screenplay was weak and the movie moves at a slow pace with dragged moments. The interval part was the best scene and the pace again picks up only in the end. Paparaydu song is one of the highlights and would be a treat to all fans. The film lacks commercial elements which are expected by Pawan Kalyam’s fans. With the big names involved with the project, the expectations on Panjaa were quite high but, it failed to meet up to the expectations. Panjaa is not a range of what Pawan Kalyan’s fans are expecting from long time and at the same time it’s not a bad film either.
At the Box-Office, Panjaa will open to record collections due to Pawan Kalyan’s crowd pulling factors while its survival at the Box-Office will be questionable.

Final Verdict :-
Threat for Pawan Kalyan Fans and Class, Might Not For Mass .

Rajanna Movie Review

Rajanna Movie Review

Rajanna review: An honest, beautiful film
easymovies Rating 4/5

By easymovies-india.com
Set in a village called Nelakondapalli in Adilabad district in early 1950`s, the film tells the story of Mallamma (Annie) and her father Rajanna (Nagarjuna), a freedom fighter.
After the death of her father and mother (Sneha), a villager brings up Mallamma. Her only passion is singing. But the village chieftain wants the little nightingale killed. She is saved by her music teacher (Nasser). He advises her to go to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and get help to free the village from the Nizam rule.
She sets out for Delhi on bare foot and as soon as she reaches Nehru, the men from her village kidnap her. She is locked up in a room along with her music teacher. He tells her the story of Rajanna, her father, a revolutionary who taught the villagers to fight against the atrocities.
Rajanna portrays the story of the girl. The movie revolves around her personal freedom to live without fears and a revolutionary`s struggle to bring freedom to his village.
Without doubt, Rajanna is one of the best movies to come out in Tollywood in the recent times. Songs are part of Telangana`s culture. Director Vijayendra Prasad uses songs to narrate the story. The beauty in the script lies in making the girl a singer and Rajanna a balladeer.
Music genius M M Keeravani has put in his best for this movie and lifted many scenes with his impeccable recording.
On the down the side, the movie`s pace goes down in the second half. The song in the climax is poorly scripted and executed. There are also some factual errors like the songs of Mayabazar (1957) being played on radio when the movie is set much before its release.
Annie gets more footage and she steals the show. She scores full marks for expressions and accent. You empathise with her and also feel sympathy for her plight. She gives an award- winning performance. Nagarjuna is terrific in the song - `Veyyi Veyyi`. In some patriotic scenes, he is good but his character could have had more depth to bring out the feel and fervor.
Among other actors, Sneha as Lacchamma is apt. Swetha Menon as the villainous Dorasani fits the bill but her costumes are in no way related to Telangana culture. Sammeta Gandhi brings the authenticity to his character. Nasser as the music teacher is okay. Supreeth, Pradeep Rawath and Sravan as Nag`s friends are good.
The film`s soul is its music and M M Keeravani lives up to his name and fame by giving one of the best musical scores in Telugu cinema. The film`s musical score ranks among his best.
Visuals are topnotch. The film has rich production values. Editing by Kotagiri is perfect. S S Rajamouli`s style and his touch are clearly visible in action episodes and in the song of `Veyyi Veyyi`. Production designer (art) S Ravinder`s set is authentic and succeeds in recreating the bygone era.
Vijayendra Prasad should be applauded for the script, screenplay is very interesting. It was a great move from Nagarjuna to be part of a commercial movie in which he does not appear for almost an hour and back the film by producing it.
Rarely do we get to see an honest, beautiful film like Rajanna. It is an emotional film with a heart-touching script. With terrific performance from Annie, topnotch musical score by music genius M M Keeravani, rich production values, the movie is one of the best to come out from Tollywood in the recent times. Go for it, for its honesty and genuine effort.
