KCR’s rude shock to Jagan
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) decision to field its candidate in the by-election to be held in Parakala constituency, which would fell vacant with the disqualification of rebel MLA Konda Surekha, came as a rude shock to YS Jagan.
Earlier, Jagan announced that he would not field his party candidates in the constituencies, which fell vacant due to resignations of MLAs in support to the Telangana movement. In return, Jagan expected two favours from the TRS party. One of them happens to be – Allowing him to tour in Telangana districts as part of the Odarpu Yatra. Secondly, TRS should not field its candidate against sitting MLA Konda Surekha in the by-elections in Parakala constituency.
However, the TRS floor leader Etela Rajender on Wednesday made it clear that his party would be contesting in all the constituencies where by-elections would be held, including Parakala. On reacting to a question on Jagan’s Odarpu Yatra in Telangana, Etela Rajender said,”Jagan wouldn’t be allowed to tour in Telangana, without making his stand clear on statehood issue”.
The chances of Konda Surekha winning the by-election are bleak as YSR Congress party didn’t announce a clear stand on statehood issue till date. On the other hand, TRS might repeat the Mahabubabad incident if Jagan try to re-start his Odarpu Yatra without taking a stand in favour of Telangana state.
